OH.MY. GOODNESS. How do I even begin to express the beauty of this game? The writing, the art, the mood, the entire atmosphere of this game is absolutely beautiful. It was wholly an emotional and amazing journey. The characters- Jackson and Jed both have such rich perspectives, and I enjoy the writing in this game so much as it shines through Jackson's internal thoughts and narrative. Thank you to the creator akibread for creating this masterpiece, and for my tears... and for everyone playing for the first time, you've all hit the jackpot to read an absolute gem.
spoilers below abt the story bc i'm a HUGE yapper:
AUGHGH. I JUST LOVE THEM SM. JACKSON BEING COMPARED TO JED AND HIS SIBLINGS.. that just really hits home (sob). it was never about the 3-points! I love insanely the interactions between Jackson & his father, DIG that the father's face is hidden and warped into this authoritative eerie figure, it really matches well with his impact on Jackson and the big influence in his life to always feel inferior to the best (Jed) + the details with his anxiety meds/panic attacks being put through verbal & physical abuse majority of his life, chefs kiss for all the detailing and writing. (so shoutout to Miss Jen!)
And Jed :(( it just feels like he's pretty much a people pleaser (from what i got) and his path in life was set out for him similarly to Jackson, he seemed naturally gifted and had huge resources set for him, so it felt like no matter how many things pushed onto him he would do it without fail due to the nature of his lifestyle, but he wasn't free. just talented. that's why the dynamic between Jackson & Jed is so amazing to me. Jed saw something in Jackson that he didn't have= passion. Jackson saw something in Jed that he wanted to have = talent. Seeing how Jed could do everything so much better and get praise that Jackson couldn't from his own father, and Jed seeing how Jackson had ambition for writing, they both found refuge in the sole fact that they both had something they wanted from each other. hence the confrontation of wanting to be each other. you just wish jackson would say "I missed you too" back to him, lol, but you know he meant it. would it be a stretch to say that jed picked out the song he wanted to play for at the gala? he seemed to for Jackson, even repairing his pieces together... no matter, we know they're just as romantic when jackson wasn't talking about the scenery about the "view" :)

Everything you've analyzed and mentioned is spot on!! I'm also really happy that you were able to experience the specific nuances / feelings / atmosphere I tried hard to convey while making this game.... The dynamics between Jackston and his father, and the relationship between him and Jed, and the core theme of jealousy - I tried to fit them within all the scenes I wanted to show in a coherent narrative (within the constraints of the game jam, ofc :)) I'm glad the message got across!
I'm also happy you liked how his father is represented, i tried to make him distorted and eerie as much as possible - it's a lens on how jackston views him, reflecting his psychological state.
AND YESSS Jed is a people pleaser, he tries hard to make his parents (esp his mom) happy, though he's learning to tackle that slowly xD I tried to write his character mirror jackston in a way that builds the core dynamic of his relationship with him (wanting to be each other), so they would complement each other in a sense.
As for Jed's musical piece at the gala, I'll leave it up to interpretation :)
